We treat each client as an individual, which means we don’t use cookie-cutter approaches or rely on just one or two types of therapy.  We use several tools and provide a unique approach that works best for you and your situation.  Most clients do best with a mix of therapies (Integrative/Eclectic).  We incorporate practical, solution-oriented styles whenever possible.  We may also incorporate other therapies when appropriate, like art therapy, music therapy, animal therapy, and narrative therapy.

As licensed therapists in Florida, some of the evidence-based approaches we use are:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Trauma-informed therapy

Solution-Focused Therapy

Mindfulness-based strategies

Holistic / Orthomolecular

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Psychoeducation

One of the most common searches is: “How much does therapy cost in Tallahassee?”

In Tallahassee, fees are usually between $120 and $150.

Session fees vary depending on the type of service (individual therapy, couples counseling, extended sessions). Please contact us for our current rates.

We may offer:

* Sliding scale options (limited availability)

* Superbills for out-of-network reimbursement

Currently, we accept Florida Blue insurance plans and most Federal BCBS plans.  All others, we would be an out-of-network provider.  This means you would pay us directly and then submit a receipt to your insurance for reimbursement according to your plan.  [Note that HMO insurance plans like Capital Health (CHP) require you to see a CHP provider and will not pay for out-of-network providers].

Most clients begin with weekly therapy sessions. As symptoms improve, sessions may shift to biweekly or maintenance appointments.

If you are unsure how often you should attend therapy, we will create a plan that fits your goals.

If you are searching for *what to expect at your first therapy appointment*, here’s what typically happens:

* Discussion of your current concerns.  Why you are seeking help.

* Review of relevant history

* Identification of therapy goals. Get clarification.

* Time for you to ask questions

There is no pressure to share everything immediately. The first session is about building comfort and getting clarity.  Keep in mind that, on average, it takes 3 sessions for the therapist to get a good assessment.

Hint:  Before your appoointment write down your concerns and the questions you have.  Bring the list to your appointment and keep it in hand so you don't forget an important concern or question.  It is normal to feel nervous at first and forget your questions.

The length of therapy depends on your goals and the nature of your concerns.  How dedicated you are to therapy is also a main factor in your progress and in how effective therapy is for you.

* Short-term therapy may last 8–12 sessions

* Longer-term therapy may continue for several months

Some conditions may require a lifetime of maintenance sessions.

We regularly evaluate progress to ensure therapy is effective.

Our privacy policy (applies to non-insurance clients) exceeds state and federal requirements.  We keep all your information confidential and will release it only as required by law.  We do not keep electronic records or store info in the cloud.  Your privacy is a priority to us.

  • Therapists utilize psychotherapy to diagnose and treat patients' emotional, relational, and behavioural challenges and create customised treatment plans according to each patient's unique issues.
  • Counselors, on the other hand, assist clients in identifying specific problems in their current lives, provide active listening, and guide them towards effective positive changes.
  • A therapist has training in both psychotherapy to uncover and treat past hurts and trauma, and counseling to guide clients to effective positive changes.
